Early Advent

I promise to make a video of Tim actually walking around so you can see that he isn't suffering from iron poor blood.  He's just a snuggle bug through and through!

Going back to some of my cross stitch projects that are fifteen years old (or so) is interesting.  I can see my flub ups but I don't care.  Yay!  I just keep going.  I like the orderliness of cross stitching.  I also like the patterns, supplies, and thread colors.  It's so fun and a nice little change of pace from knitting, but I still love to knit.
Jeff is crafty.  He built a wood tunnel in the dining room of their house.  It's fun to crawl through!  (not for Granny, of course)

We started our family advent times early.  Next week Bird and Miss Bug sing in the Colorado Children's Chorale's Christmas concert on Sunday night.  I can't wait to see them and hear them crooning Christmas tunes with all the other children! We'll have to skip our advent gathering and resume the following Sunday.
The kids are SO cute dancing to the guitar playing and singing jingle bells.  (I'll put a video of them dancing at the end of this post!)
Noah LOVES the guitar!
Sorry for the blur but aren't Jeff and Christie adorable watching their boys dance? Sorry my Croc-ed foot is in the photo!  ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The weather is in the 70's, so it's gorgeous outside and I am not in the mood to put up the Christmas tree when it's so balmy outdoors.  I walked down to the grocery store and found this by the greens and trees that are for sale.  It's a pinecone on a stick!  It made me laugh because it reminds me of a caramel apple!
I added it to some greens and baby's breath.
Our old realtor brought by a lovely poinsettia!
We still have some leftover Thanksgiving blooms.

It's still November but I'll be geared up for holiday decorating soon.  I want to use some Santa fabric my friend Reve gave me and make a curtain for the dining room window.  I want to frame the Father Christmas cross stitch projects, too.
I sewed this morning!  I made some pants out of denim.  (I guess we could call them jeans๐Ÿ˜) and they are kind of wide, but comfy.  They are in the dryer right now, but I'll take a photo.  My next sewing project is a linen polka dot dress.  After that I'll try the blouses.
I wish I was a fast painter because I want to paint our entry way.  I also want to remove the wallpaper borders and make some pretty curtains for under the shelves.  I am still intent on turning the family room into a photo from Brambly Hedge.
Enjoy the last of November, sweet friends.
December will be LOTS of FUN and very good, very holy.
Thank you for popping in again!

Every Precious One

Thanksgiving was FUN! I'm always proud of my pie baking . . . until I see other pies that are not too brown and not borderline lumpy.  Hmmm.  I'll get better.  I DID figure out how to make pie crust with the food processor.  Wow!  Easy peezy!  I need to learn new things a little more often, I think.
Before we left for Jenny's I finished a sock.  Now to make its mate.  Hmmm.  Started it!
Our time together was peaceful and loving.  All of the grands were happy and cheerful.  They are all so precious.
James liked chasing Thumbelina (aka Lina, aka Beans).
Jenny did a beautiful job setting the tables in her gorgeous living room.

Little Noah (aka #11) and his pretty mama had smiles for everyone.
Here are nine of the wonder bugs.  I think James and Noah were climbing around in the house when Bill took this photo.
And here is the whole family!  So fun!  I cherish this photo of our most precious ones.
It's Samantha's 8th birthday today!  Do you like her doll's Girl Scout uniform?  I do.
The prayer group I'm a part of meets on Friday mornings.  Isn't it lovely out at the retreat house?  It's just a 30 minute drive and such a refreshing change of scenery.

Are you feeling Christmas-y?  I must tackle the dust bunnies first.
Thank you for popping in to say hello!  Happy holidays to all of you.

Cinderella, Family, Mice and a Good Book

Do you love this Cinderella illustration by William Henry Margetson?  It's called "Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother".

I've been cross stitching again. I'm rusty, but it's fun to explore patterns and watch Flosstube videos.
Saturday we saw all of our peeps!  All eleven grands were here throughout the day!  It was a serendipitous delight!

We're so excited to see everyone again on Thanksgiving Day!
Today is Bill's birthday so we had a fun lunch with these girlies, ate cake, and celebrated Grampy!  We'll see two more families at dinner.  Happy happy birthday, dear Bill!

I love this Richard Scarry illustration.  I am going to frame it and hang it in our bedroom.

I have berry, apple, and pumpkin pie to make tomorrow.  I will cut up veggies for a heaping tray of carrots, peppers, mushrooms, celery . . .  and make artichoke dip (I bought some fancy cheeses).
I just finished a moving book titled With God in Russia.  It's written by Walter Ciszek and is a record of the time he spent in Russian prison camps.  Whoa.  I couldn't put it down.
I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving!  For my friends abroad, "Come on over!"

Whatcha Up To?

Hi everyone!  I was just wondering what you are up to.  Hmmmmmm?

I tagged along last Thursday and Bill and I had lunch with our good Brad. Aw!  I love his face.  We're ALL going to be together for Thanksgiving.  I'm so thankful!  All of the grands and all of us!  21 peeps!  We're eating at Jenny's so no turkey roasting for Granny this year!
The next day these two and I had a coffee break at a bakery.

On Saturday Bill took Superman to the park!  Isn't he growing up?  Noah stayed at our house and snooooooooozed.
Here's the cozy little napper.  I really must peel off that old wallpaper border and maybe figure out a better storage solution for all the knitting projects.
November has NOT been gray!  It's been red and orange and downright glowing!  Yay!

Before I start sewing "outfits" I wanted to make a pillow for our bed.  I am not very practiced at piecing/quilting but it turned out okay!

After I made the bed and arranged the new pillow I had to lie on the bed for a minute.  Tim joined me.

Lizzy wanted to fix things when she visited today.
I finished a shawl!  I didn't follow the pattern because it had a big leaf/lace section that seemed overly fussy to me.  I was getting bored so I added in some colors which may have been a mistake.  I like it anyway and I also made a few boo boos like forgetting to increase on the wrong side for quite a long ways.  It's forgiving and it's soft so I'm happy!
I ordered some new clogs from the discount house and they are sort of "fairy princess-ish" aren't they?
These cutie pies are on a cruise out of Florida.  I miss them and I'm glad they'll be back soon. Isn't Miss Bug making a funny face?

Here's a nature journal page from Granny Marigold
Here's an autumn post from MK
Here is a lovely page of painting from Gumbo Lily
Marcie took a trip out to California so she is catching up.
I can't believe Thanksgiving is so soon.  I shall bake pretty pies and also make that Nila wafer/banana dessert for the first time ever!
It's getting dusky outside so I'm off for a short walk.
Thank you for stopping in!
